Whereas the main ideas in the book revolve around the fact that people will like you if you offer them attention (“Become genuinely interested in other people”, or “Make the other person feel important — and do it sincerely” are good examples of this approach), there are other instances where the author’s advice doesn’t feel as authentic. For example, the tip “Let the other person feel like the idea is his or hers” 

This article is pointed towards beginners in Javascript or people who are just starting working with functional Javascript and never heard of map, filter and reduce. If you already have a lot of practice with these, you can just jump to the end of the article where I point you towards some other interesting pieces.

Whatever is the direction digital artists choose for their professional realization, one of the crucial and hardest challenges is finding own creative style. Today we are discussing this theme with Tubik graphic designer Yaroslava Yatsuba, now experienced in both traditional and digital art. She is keen to share some useful tips and practices helping designers to find and keep their own style in business and theme flat illustrations for various purposes. Let’s consider what graphic designers could do so that not to sink in the variety of styles and catch their own golden fish fulfilling professional goals.

Personally I prefer and use the Asset Export panel. It's quicker, produces cleaner SVGs and is more flexible (drag and drop several assets and it will export them all separately; drag and alt-drop several assets and it will export them as one).

1. Use color and weight to create hierarchy instead of size
2. Don’t use grey text on colored backgrounds
3. Offset your shadows
4. Use fewer borders
5. Don’t blow up icons that are meant to be small
6. Use accent borders to add color to a bland design
7. Not every button needs a background color

In my opinion the greatest inspiration for finding great natural gradients is nature. Specifically, the sky. It’s most basic colours are blue and red, but in truth, it’s so much more than just that. Subtle changes in hue emulate waves, the irregular and imperfect clouds simultaneously both ruin and enhance the big picture, and should the sun ever rise or set, the whole thing is thrown into complete disarray, that, while one would think would ruin the experience, everything still sets into a perfect harmony. I have never seen a sky that didn’t somehow inspire me to feel something bigger than all the artists of our civilization have ever managed to create.

All taxpayers who earn less than $157,500, or $315,000 for a married couple, can now deduct 20 percent of the income they receive via a pass-through businesses from their overall taxable income. If taxpayers earn above those amounts and aren’t service professionals, they must meet tests to take the full deduction -- the size of their deduction depends on how much they pay in employee wages or how much they’ve invested in capital like real estate.

4. Be open to teaching and learning. When people get promoted at work it's because their managers can see that they are ready to operate at a higher altitude. Show your managers you're ready by staying open to teaching people what you know and learning from your co-workers, too.
5. Climb up in altitude. Once you understand and feel comfortable at your own job, think from a higher altitude about your department and its role in your company or institution. Think about the company's goals and get clear on your personal goals, also.
6. Thank and acknowledge people. You don't have to wait for a management title to thank and acknowledge your co-workers.
7. Get comfortable asking "What can I do differently next time?" Most people will not give you feedback unless you ask for it because they'll think you might find them presumptuous if they do. Find the people you trust in your workplace and enlist them as informal mentors by asking them "You saw my presentation. Be honest -- what could I do differently next time?" If you and they are comfortable, share your feedback with them too. We all need people in our corner and on our side.

When data scientist Joel Grus wrote an article on using machine learning to solve the "fizzbuzz" problem last year, most people saw it as an exercise in comedy, perhaps with a warning about the inappropriate use of AI. But we saw a deeper lesson. Certainly, you don’t need AI to solve fizzbuzz, so long as someone tells you the algorithm underlying the problem. But suppose you discover a seemingly random pattern like fizzbuzz output in nature? Patterns like that exist throughout real life, and no one gives us the algorithm. Machine learning solves such problems.

Therefore I thought I would give a quick explanation for anyone still unsure what a Key Lookup is actually doing and why it’s considered bad.

We all know that Non-Clustered indexes all include the “Clustered Key” of the table. If not, then you do now. And if you have no Clustered Key (ie. Your table is a Heap) then the non-clustered will contain a Row Identifier which is unique and refers back to a specific record within your Heap. This is how a non-clustered index is linked to your table… whether it be via the Clustered Key or the RID.

Sometimes you need to make a dot in Adobe Illustrator. And sometimes it takes you so long to figure out how to make said dot that you begin to contemplate the benefits of giving up design entirely and living as a hermit in the woods. To save others from this path of existential angst, here’s a quick tutorial.

Each of these illustrations contains the title/name of a membership. There are no actual titles in the HTML to represent these memberships otherwise, which means that the text in each image is the title of that particular membership. This, in turn, means that this text needs to be as searchable, selectable and accessible as real (HTML) text.

In other words, the text inside the images needs to remain real text and not be converted to outlines, for starters. SVG text — wrapped in elements within an
